So, how late can I check in?

There is no need to really ‘check-in’ with us. Check-in starts at 4pm, but you can check-in as late as you like (preferably before 10pm though). The code you will receive will start working at 4pm (unless you’ve pre-arranged an earlier check in with us). Typically early check-ins aren’t possible during busy seasons (We need as much time as possible to because this is a Huge cabin, over 4200 square feet). If you’d like an early check-in, that might be available if we aren’t turning over the cabin the same day, just check with us first.
What is the TV provider? Do you have live channels? What is the internet like?

Great questions Brian! Many of our cabins have a remote feel and often the trade-off is that we take a hit on internet speed…but not at Highland haven. We have 50mbps speed, which is enough to stream all 7 smart TVs at the same time (I tested it in June 2020)! All 7 TVs are Roku smart TVs which have all streaming media platforms all preloaded, and a modern, simple interface to keep you from having to be frustrated while looking for your favorite shows. All TVs also have live local channels provided by DirecTV Stream which is paid for by us. Feel free to login to your favorite accounts, just don’t forget to logout! (with one exception…please don’t use your personal account on DirecTV Stream because when you log out the next guest won’t have access to our live channels without us ‘logging back in’, thanks!)
I see your policy says no pets, it that absolutely set in stone?

Yes, it is…no pets allowed. The issue for us is more pet dander, since we have a child that is allergic. I’m a dog person also, but I can’t have any dogs right now for that reason. This policy is just easier for us to ensure that we don’t have any issues ourselves, and since we market the property as ‘no pets’ other guests will rely on that info that might have similar concerns.
What is nearby, like grocery stores, things to do, places to see? Never been to Blairsville before…

Great questions…So there is a Dollar General Store about a mile from the end of the neighborhood that will provide you with anything basic you need, including groceries. There is also a watersports rental, 2 BBQ joints, and a gas station right next the Dollar General. There are three towns within 20 mins…Blairsville, Blue Ridge, and Murphy NC. As far as things to do and places to see…well that’s a long list. Check out our post on our favorite things to do here. Hover over the menu option that says ‘EXPLORE’ at the top of the page…we’ve laid out some more info for you there. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of hiking, watersports, shopping, restaurants, kayaking, movies, and more.
Where’s the closest golf course to this cabin?

Golfer, eh? Blairsville has three of them – Butternut Creek Golf Course, Old Union Golf Course, and Meeks Park Disc Golf Course (not really a golf course, I think). Ellijay has Whitepath Golf Club, and there is one in Young Harris called Brasstown Valley Golf Club. The three in Blairsville are all within 20 mins.
Can you tell me if there is Skiing anywhere near here in January?

So, I’m not a skier, but I’ve heard of three places: Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center, Ski Sapphire Valley, and Cataloochee Ski Area. Let me know if you like any of them.
Is there a TV in every room? I can’t see them in the photo

Yes. Some of the photos are older, and we should probably put some new ones up. All of the bedrooms have Roku Smart TVs.
