Starting Footings

2022 was supposed to be better than 2021. I expected lumber and steel prices to revert to their respective means. I expected to be able to get concrete when I needed it. I expected folks to return my phone calls.

Wrong on all counts. The truth is I’ve waited years to start this building. My steel prices DOUBLED from the planning phase to the building phase, so I waited for them to come down. Well, they haven’t, but I’m done waiting.

Trees are cleared. Foundation survey is done. Time to start footings.

Rebar cages where the support columns will attach to the slab
Had to add gravel to the base of the footing due to elevated water table
