Highland Haven Cabin Guide
Welcome to Highland Haven in Blairsville!
HOUSE RULES
ALL TRASH MUST BE BAGGED. Un-bagged trash will not be hauled away because the trash servicer requires bagged trash only in the cans. Trash service comes once a week each Monday. You will find the trash cans at the bottom end of the retaining wall. Please close the lids on the cans each night.
NO PETS. We market this property as such, and we have family members that are allergic to animal dander.
NO PARTIES PLEASE. We have very sweet neighbors and we are still friends, so help us to keep it that way! Please keep the parking on our property off the street. There is comfortable space for up to three vehicles in front of the cabin. No loud noise after 10pm please! You are in the woods, but noise carries. Keep music and conversation at reasonable levels.
PLUMBING EMERGENCIES SUCK. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but please don’t put anything but toilet paper down the drains.
NO DRUGS OR ILLICIT ACTIVITY are allowed on the property. No smoking in the house, but smoking is welcome on decks and outside. Please don’t throw cigarette butts in the yard.
THIS PROPERTY IS NOT BABY/CHILDPROOF. Children of all ages are welcome, but it is the guardian’s responsibility to read through the warnings listed; watch, maintain control, and keep children safe at all times under the guardian’s supervision. By reserving this property, guests/renters agree that the whole party understands these rules and all will adhere to these rules.
NO SHOOTING of Fireworks on Property. No Shooting of Firearms or Weapons on the Property.
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL FIRES ARE OUT before going to bed or leaving the property. Guests are prohibited from moving the logs on the indoor gas fireplaces.
TVs
The cabin is equipped with 7 ROKU Smart TVs. LIVE and LOCAL channels are provided through DirecTV Stream. Look for the DirecTV Stream Icon on the homescreen TV for access to 84+ channels. You can also stream your favorite content directly from these TVs with your favorite services including Netflix, Disney+, ESPN+, Prime Video, HULU, YouTube TV, and just about anything else. For a full list of TV apps, click here.
LIVE TV/LOCAL CHANNELS

Nervous because you don’t see a bulky Cable/Direct TV box in every room? How are you going to get live/local channels? Don’t worry! We pay for DirecTV’s Choice Package that carries 84+ channels, including local content. Look for the DirecTV icon on the home screen of the TV. For the DirecTV channel list, click here.
WIFI
WIFI NETWORK: 1388_highland
WIFI PASSWORD: grandvista1
You will notice throughout the cabin we have placed these little white round things with a light in them in the corners of the room. That is the Google mesh wifi network that spreads wireless throughout the cabin, so you can get strong signal everywhere. Please do not unplug them!
THERMOSTAT
Highland Haven utilizes Nest Smart Thermostats. Nest Thermostats don’t have a touch screen. Use the touch bar on the right side to control your thermostat. Swipe up to raise the temperature, swipe down to lower it, and tap to confirm. For more detailed instructions, click here. You may notice when you first arrive that the temperature is above or below normal, because is set to away mode. Not to worry, as you open the door, it senses you are home and will automatically heat/cool to the desired range. Even though we have thermostats on each floor, because of the open concept connecting the main floor and the upper floors you can expect the basement to be cooler and the top floor to be warmer than your setting.
HOT TUB
The Hot tub is a Strong Spa Model. Always replace the cover to keep animals and other things out of the hot tub, and to keep the temperature up. Do not sit or stand on the cover. HOT TUB USE IS AT THE GUESTS OWN RISK. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IS PERMITTED IN THE HOT TUB WITHOUT DIRECT SUPERVISION OF A RESPONSIBLE ADULT. Easy operating instructions for various actions are summarized below. For the full 44 page manual, click here. Operating instructions are found on page 17.
STARTING THE HOT TUB – The Hot tub should always be on, but it may be in sleep or economy mode, depending on how the previous guests left it. Press the WARM button, then the LIGHT button (in that order) until the display shows what looks like “St” for Standard mode. Then press the WARM or COOL button to adjust the temperature. It may take a few hours to reach the desired temperature.
MODES (“St” for standard”, “SL” for sleep, “Ec” for economy) – To change the mode on the spa, press WARM followed by LIGHT. Repeat this process until the display shows your desired mode.
JETS – Touch the “Jets” button once to turn the main 2-speed pump on or off, and to shift between low and high speeds. If left running, the low speed of the pump will automatically turn off after 2 hours, and the high speed will automatically turn off after 15 minutes.
TEMPERATURE – To display the Set Temperature, press either the “WARM” or “COOL” button once. The LCD will begin to flash the set temperature. If you want to increase or decrease the desired temperature, press the “WARM” or “COOL” button accordingly. Once at the desired temperature, allow a few seconds for the flashing to cease. Your Set Temperature has now been successfully set.
GRILL
The propane grill outside is hooked up to the house propane line, and does not need a propane tank to operate.
TO LIGHT THE GRILL – first make sure that all burner valves are in the off position. Then, switch on the propane line where it comes through the deck on the bottom right side, so that the valve handle is inline with the propane line. Then turn the far left knob to the 9 o-clock position (black circle with a lightning bolt), then press the ignite button above the knob and hold down until it lights up. Then you can turn on the remaining burners.
WHEN YOU ARE DONE – please turn off the burners as well as the gas below. Also please empty the grease from the bottom tray below the grill when it cools off. NOTE – Please do not pour grease down the drains, as it will clog our septic system.
FIREPLACE
The Gas fireplace can be lit by choosing a time from the timer switch on the wall to the left of the fireplace. It will automatically go out after the timer runs out. If you press one of the timed option buttons, and the fireplace doesn’t come on in about 5 seconds, the pilot light might be out. That will happen sometimes when people leave the doors open. If you would like instructions on how to re-light the pilot, text us at 770-652-6996 and we will assist.
POOL TABLE/PING PONG
The pool table downstairs has a convertible ping pong table top that can be installed on top. We have recently had some issues with children breaking pool cues and damaging the table, so we’ve placed the cues and ping pong stuff behind a locked door. The code is 1388 to open the door. Please monitor the kids around the table to prevent any more damage and potential charges to the guest. Thanks!
